A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

Demo for a Yume Nikki-inspired exploration game. Consider this a proof of concept.

A burnt out Las Vegas cocktail waitress has grown to resent her life, her city, and her choices. In the wake of an incident at her job, she decides to dedicate some more time to "self care" (sleeping, adopting avoidant behaviors, ditching work), and finds her dreams blending with those of the magician's white tiger at the casino where she works.

8 effects (4 hidden, 4 handed to you since I didn't have time to hide them), 8-ish worlds, a large number of variable events influenced by your in-game mood stat, and the trappings of some implied story.

As for content warnings, if you play Yume Nikki-alikes you probably know what to expect: unsettling imagery, dream nonsense with unpleasant implications, maybe the occasional pixelated jumpscare.

Read the readme.txt for more information.

WOW I am absolutely in love with this game so excuse me while I gush over it! The visuals and music do such an amazing job of capturing the colorful neon plastic feeling of Vegas with just a little bit of underlying scuzziness. Each area is so unique and striking and your sense of color design is wonderful. Also I am incredibly jealous of how you're able to draw pixel trees. I'm over here taking notes. And am I correct in sensing some very direct Mother 3 and LSD Dream Emulator influences?

I did encounter some bugs, but that's understandable since it's a demo and there's a lot of content. I'm not sure what triggered it, but after the second time I went out for the day, the main character no longer had collision with anything so I could walk through walls and was no longer able to go to sleep so I had to start a new game. Also I went off the track of the escalators in the mall section somehow.

Despite it being a work in progress, I'm super impressed by how creative and ambitious the project is overall. There's so many details to love. The tiger ladder climbing animation. The mermaid effect. And I'm dying to find out who this blond woman who keeps showing up is. I don't know if you're planning on continuing the project after this jam, but I'm very excited to see whatever you have in store for the future!

Thanks for appreciating the trees, I feel like they're one of those mundane things that are a real pain to pixel but also almost unavoidable. I think I spent more time pixeling trees than any other singular object if you count the trees that didn't make it into the game, hah. And you are completely correct, MOTHER 3 And LSD Dream Emulator are big influences in my work and here especially.

I'm going to have to do some serious collision bug testing when I release my next version... I have a hunch I know what caused those bugs though so hopefully it won't be so bad. The escalators in particular were a big hurdle in bug testing - juggling automated diagonal pixel movement, well... it has its challenges.

I do have plans to continue to expand this project! It'll probably be a bit before I get my next version out because I want to smooth out some rougher parts in the foundation, but there's too much here already for me to not want to finish it. ;)

Hello! Really cool game so far, and I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but I noticed when I had the dead dove effect equipped and tried to use the zebra stripes, it kept the sprite the same as the dead dove effect but still gave me the speed that the zebra stripes give you (probably worded that wrong). Either way, love the game so far!

Also- the music is great.

Yeah, that's a bug - both of those are effects I added later and so they weren't as thoroughly tested. Definitely something I'll have to patch in the future. Thank you for playing though!
